190th Bhanu Jayanti Program And Election Notice

International Nepali Literary Society, Washington D.C. would like to encourage all Nepali community organizations in various cities of North America and other countries to cerebrate upcoming 190th Bannu Jayanti with tribute, poetry and literary programs. This year, Bhanu Jayanti falls on July 13th. INLS representatives in your region are available to collaborate with you to organize the programs. We request all local community organizations to get in touch with INLS representative in your region.

Invitation to Bhanu Jayanti Program in DC Metro Region

International Nepali Literary Society, Washington D.C. has been celebrating Bhanu Jayanti in Washington DC Metro region for last 13 years with all day activities that includes poetry recitation, Bhanu Bhakta Memorial Cup Volleyball competition and informal cultural programs. During this program, INLS holds its annual general assembly meeting and conducts election.

Starting this year, INLS will be announcing winners of International Nepali Literary Best Book Awards during the Bhanu Jayanti program as well. Although winners are announced in Bhanu Jayanti, formal award distribution ceremony will take place at the Devkota Jayanti program in November for each award year. INLS has received 28 book nominations from the Nepali writers around the world. INLS Book Screening Committee and Judging Committee are currently evaluating the books.

INLS in collaboration with Royal Nepal Embassy and all interested local DC metro organizations is organizing this year’s Bhanu Jayanti in the DC Metro area. We would like to cordially invite all DC Metro Nepali community members and friends of Nepal to this program.

INLS Election Notice for the term 2003-04
As every year, INLS is gearing up to conduct annual election to fill all five posts of the Executive Committee for the term 2003-04. The posts up for grab are:
PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT, GENERAL SECRETARY, SECRETARY, TREASURER
To declare your candidacy, you need to file a petition supported by two INLS members. In addition, you need to enclose a filing fee of $25.00 (non-refundable) payable to INLS. Your petition with the check must be received by 5:00PM, July 8 at the following INLS office:

To be eligible to run for Executive Committee, your membership must be current as of July 8, 2003. In case the posts are contested, election will be held at the site of the Bhanu Jayanti Program on July 12th, 2003. All the members on record as of July 12th, 2003 will be eligible to vote. Election results will be announced on the same day. In keeping with the INLS tradition, INLS Election Committee will conduct the election in a fair and democratic manner.
