Nepali Education Community Projects in North America

Washington DC Metro Area

A DC Metro area Nepalese community meeting was called by INLS on August 3rd, 2002 to discuss this program and establish a DC Nepali Education Committee to carry forward this task. School of Languages and Cultures of Nepal, a community-based school was formally inaugurated at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia on September 15, 2002 as part of INLS DC Nepali Education Project. A separate Nepali Education Fund and Advisory Council has also been established to carry forward the project

Colorado Oregon Ohio
INLS Colorado Chapter in collaboration with Rocky Mountain Friends of Nepal has been running two schools in Denver and Boulder Nepali communities. INLS inaugurated these two schools in July, 2003 at the annual convention of ANA. INLS Oregon state representative Mr. Daya Shakya has been running Nepali language classes in Portland sponsored by Nepali Association of Oregon. Mr. Daya Shyka serves as consultant on the Curriculum Committee. NLS Ohio state representative Mr. Pushpa Man Joshi ran Nepali language classes in Columbus, Ohio for two years. He also serves as consultant on the Curriculum Committee.
New York Texas Other States and Countries
INLS New York state representative Sushma Joshi is interested in forming an INLS chapter and transition the DCNEP project to New York. Nepalese Society of Texas in collaboration with INLS Texas Chapter is working on opening School of Languages and Cultures of Nepal in Dallas community. This school will be inaugurated in January, 2003. We are working with the representatives in various states in North America, Australia and Japan to lunch phase I of Nepali Education Project.
